How the law frames your matter

  • Parenting: Since 6 May 2024, the Court applies a simplified, child-safety–centred best interests list when making parenting orders. We draft terms aligned with that framework.
  • Consent Orders: Agreements about children and/or property can be made into court-sealed orders, usually decided on the papers via the portal.
  • FDR / s 60I: For parenting cases, parties generally must attempt Family Dispute Resolution and file a section 60I certificate (unless an exemption applies).
  • Property: Settlements consider contributions and future needs, and must be just and equitable under the Family Law Act 1975.
